We have all been there: in search for the perfectly-fitted garment. Because pieces that flatter our unique body types is what we want. Nothing easier than that is what Nathalie Neuilly thought. She literally took matters into her own hands and founded the made-to-measure online atelier Dressarte. Whether it is a dress, a blouse or a blazer, each piece is specially made for you. And you don´t even need a fitting appointment as you can measure yourself from wherever you are. Get your made-to-measure garment in only 4 steps. And this is how it works:
Step 1: Measure your body for a perfect fit or select a standard size
Nathalie grew up having her clothes tailored in an atelier run by her mother. “I realized there might be other women out there like me, who want custom-made clothing but have little time to visit a tailor.” At Dressarte, however, you can easily create your perfect dress from home. First, send all your body measurements – height, bust, waist etc. To make sure that your dress will be perfect for you, Dressarte provides guidance on how to measure yourself and what kind of clothes are suitable for your body type.
Step 2: Choose your fabric
According to your budget, you can choose from different premium fabrics such as Italian wool and silk, French lace, English tweed and more. All textiles are limited in stock, which makes your dress truly unique.
Nathalie works with fair trade factories of which a few of them are based in Italy. “The blouses you see on our website are made from organic silk. The mulberry trees are grown without the use of harmful substances such as pesticides and insecticides.” Dressarte gives priority to natural fibers and soon wants to replace the recycled viscose in their collections with wool.
Step 3: Opt for a design
Boat- or V-neckline? Pearls or no pearls? Long or short sleeves? – You decide! Different freelance designers from all over the world contribute to Dressarte collections.
Step 4: Place your order
Once you placed your order, artisans will create your dress in a small fair trade factory in Italy. Within 3 to 4 weeks it will be ready and sent to your home. Yay! Big plus: All Dressarte pieces come in recycled and recyclable packaging.
Ethical, timeless design, perfect fit, affordable price
“We are online-based which means that we save logistics costs since no intermediaries are involved and clothes are delivered directly to clients”, Nathalie responds when we ask her how she manages to maintain the affordable prices. “The made-to-measure approach also allows us to reduce stock and production costs.” On top of that, each garment is manufactured on demand so there is no overproduction and no unnecessary waste of resources. This way, women can enjoy more for less.
Shhh, Nathalie reveals: “We plan to introduce made-to-measure women suits made from beautiful and breathable wool, woven in Italy. We also plan to extend our collection of silk blouses using ahimsa silk (also known as ‘peace silk’).” – We are excited!
